DepEd Order No. 49 Series 22 "Avoid relationship, and interaction between teachers and students"

     Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte issued DepEd executive Order No.49, Series of 2022 on November 2 to urge staff to address issues and concerns with basic education through proper and appropriate channels "without resorting to any political or third-party involvement or accommodation."

     The department did not provide information on how the policy will be applied, including consequences of violators. Another questionable clause in the ER order no.049 forbids teachers from having relationship, social interaction and communication, including following media with learners outside of school settings, except if they are relatives".But why do they have to restrict us from having relationships with our teachers and from communicating with them on social media?

     This is the most mentioned issue within the Philippines, especially on tiktok since this DepEd order was released, many creators have been sharing their reactions, most of them disagree and others agree, but even though their reactions are different, everything they say or their opinions are has a point.

     Why do I strongly disagree on that new DepEd order?Because "building a relationship between students and teachers is very important. A strong relationship with teachers and school personnel can significantly grow students' motivation and, as a result, promote learning.Students who have more strong relationships are greater academically engaged, have better social skills, and behave more positively.And, at the same time as we are with regards to social media, it's one of the gear used to communicate among students and teachers, especially during this pandemic.
